When Kimberly Parker founded Four Stripes, she wasn’t stepping away from design. She was building the platform while actively leading projects as Owner and Principal Interior Designer of Kimberly Parker Design. That distinction is one of the reasons Four Stripes feels different to so many designers- it’s created by someone still doing the work, not observing it from the outside.
For more than 26 years, Parker has built a successful interior design practice, specializing in high-end residential projects that often involve complex builder coordination, custom details, and highly engaged clients. Over time, she began to recognize a gap familiar to many firm principals: creative excellence alone wasn’t enough to scale a business. Without the right systems to manage projects, communicate with builders, and control budgets, growth became unsustainable.
Parker’s perspective was shaped not just by her design experience, but also by her understanding of construction. With early education in civil engineering and construction management, and after acting as general contractor for her own home build, Parker saw firsthand what builders needed from interior designers: clarity, complete information, and timely deliverables.
“Interior designers don’t always realize how much they affect the builder’s timeline and budget,” Parker explains. “I wanted to build a system that gave designers a process to think ahead, answer builder questions before they’re asked, and deliver fully coordinated design packages that keep projects moving.”
As her own firm grew, Parker developed a repeatable process to help her team consistently deliver at a high level. She created a detailed roadmap her staff could follow, training junior designers to approach projects with the same rigor, attention to detail, and builder-focused preparation that had built her reputation.
That internal system became the foundation for Four Stripes.
Today, Four Stripes offers interior designers a complete business management platform built around that same proven framework, including:
At the heart of Four Stripes is a simple but powerful vision: to elevate the business side of interior design, giving designers both creative freedom and operational confidence.
Parker sums it up this way: "When designers have structure, they not only deliver better work—they also earn more respect from builders, run stronger businesses, and raise the standard for the entire profession. That’s why Four Stripes exists."
